What happens when my dryer vent begins clogging up?

It is always recommended in your user manual that you clean out the lint screen in your dryer in between cycles. But did you know much of the lint still gets inside your dryer and vent and over time the lint begins to collect on the inside walls thus restricting the air flow. The lint collected inside your dryer and vent can potentially ignite and can cause a house fire!

When that happens, your dryer must work harder to push out the hot air through the restricted air vents. More energy is consumed by your dryer thus your utility bill will skyrocket! When your dryer must work harder consuming more electricity, your dryer may automatically shut down for safety measure. It also takes longer for your clothes to dry.
